Artist Statement
I struggle with giving up control.
It was my intention to approach this process without having a plan and to be more intuitive and organic. The patterns were not pre-drawn – I just kept cutting. I could not go back. The forms became leaf-like, organic. Through it all, I responded to the process, the positive and negative shapes, and the organic and graphic qualities to keep developing the piece.
The paper might fade. It might tear. It might not last, but it will be just fine.
