Teamwork

Training

On my management team, overseeing the information desk and St. Olaf student center, we developed the fall training for our incoming staff. We brainstormed the topics that needed to be covered, arranged for guests to speak, made the shift schedule, gathered keys and uniforms, as well as delegated different segments of the training to each manager (outlined on the left).

I do not normally think of creating artwork as a team effort, however in several of my art classes, team projects were common. I have developed the skills to compromise my ideas for those of other members, delegate tasks, receive feedback from one another, and support each other if help is needed in working toward a common goal. I have worked on an identity book, created an inflatable concert, and created a new holiday on teams. Evidence of successful teamwork beyond these art projects is in developing a marketing plan for the local YMCA, winning the Capsim business simulation in my Management course, working with the board of Habitat for Humanity, InterVarsity, and as a manager in the main student center.

Surreal Objects

In this project for my New Media course, my partner and I each had to model a found object using Blender, a 3D modeling program. The objects would seemingly have no connection to each other, but inspired by Surrealism, the way we combined them would create a relationship between them. My partner and I went to the store together and bought different objects. We modeled them separately and came together to model a new space for the objects and create a unified piece (first photo).
